Sony Xperia Z4 Ultra features: Concept image shows thinner profile and slimmer bezels

Sony Xperia Z Ultra, the predecessor of the soon-to-be released Sony Xperia Z4 Ultra phablet.

More than a year has passed since Sony released the phablet Xperia Z Ultra. The company has not updated the line since then, thus consumers are wondering where its successor is. Recent rumors are predicting that Sony will launch an update next year. There are reports saying that Sony will introduce the Xperia Z4 Ultra alongside the Xperia Z4 smartphone at the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show 2015 kicking off on Jan. 6, since the company is known for actively participating in tech trade shows to show off its new products.

But long before the speculated unveiling of the device, tech fans are already imagining what it would look like and what new features it would bring to the table. In one concept image, the Sony Xperia Z4 Ultra is featured with a thinner form factor measuring only 8.51 mm. Sony is known for delivering some of the thinnest smartphones in the market and it would be no surprise if it continues to defend its reputation.

Furthermore, the handset is imagined to have ultra-slim bezels at the top and bottom and no bezels on the sides, producing a larger screen display. The render comes with a 5.95-inch screen display with quad HD 2880 x 1440 pixel resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio. Moreover, the concept image includes front stereo speakers, S Force front surround sound, and 20.7-megapixel Exmor RS camera with 25600 ISO, 25 mm G Lens and RAW capture.

Meanwhile, previous reports predicted that the Sony Xperia Z4 Ultra will have the following specs and features: 5.9-inch qHD Triluminos display, Snapdragon 805 chipset, 4GB of RAM, and 16-megapixel rear camera.

Xperia Z4 Ultra's smaller brother, the Sony Xperia Z4, on the other hand, is speculated to feature a 5.4-inch qHD Triluminos display, Snapdragon 805 or 810 chipset, Adreno 420, 4 GB of RAM, 32 GB and 64 GB storage variants, Android 5.0 Lollipop, 20.7-megapixel rear shooter with 4K recording and 3.2-megapixel front-facing shooter, and a 3300 mAh battery.

Should Sony finally unveil the Xperia Z4 Ultra, it is expected to battle head on with new phablets released recently like the iPhone 6 Plus, Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge. However, Sony has not commented on the rumors surrounding its forthcoming devices yet.
