With the release of Samsung Galaxy Note Edge, the South Korean smartphone giant tapped in to another platform of innovation with its curved edge display tech. This tech allows users to setup and check notifications and other updates without physically turning on the primary display of their smartphone. While both Galaxy Note Edge and Galaxy S6 Edge feature this particular type of display tech, the company's flagship smartphone, Galaxy S6 Edge is the much better handset in terms of performance.

Galaxy S6 Edge features Samsung's homegrown Exynos 7420 SoC, while Galaxy Note Edge is assimilated with Snapdragon 805. Both smartphones feature the same amount of RAM, but it is Galaxy Note Edge that features the critical storage expansion flexibility. The handset is available in the 32 and 64 GB variants, and also allows smartphone users to expand that storage up to a limit of 128 GB. Galaxy S6 Edge might be able to deliver earth-shattering performance, but its lack of storage expansion slot has been met with criticism.

Furthermore, Samsung's flagship smartphone possesses a smaller battery compared to Galaxy Note Edge (2,600 mAh against 3,000 mAh). Since Galaxy Note Edge is incorporated with Qualcomm's chipset, users will be able to take advantage of the Quick Charge 2.0 feature, which charges a smartphone up to 60 percent after being plugged in for just 30 minutes. Galaxy S6 Edge also features a smaller screen size and a 1440p resolution, compared to the 5.6 inch screen and 1600p resolution of Galaxy Note Edge.

Both devices' 16 MP rear camera sensors are able to record 4K videos at a steady 30 frames per second, along with capturing breathtaking images thanks to the sensors' maximum image resolutions. In terms of aesthetics and performance, Galaxy S6 Edge will be the better purchase, but some consumers will be discouraged to acquiring it due to lack of storage expansion options. In terms of battery life, and a larger screen size, Galaxy Note Edge will be the better option.
