Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and S6 Edge release date: specs leaked before Sept. launch

What do the recently leaked specs reveal about the newest Samsung Galaxy Note?Samsung official web site

A brand new leak has revealed the specs sheet for two Samsung heavyweights — the purported Galaxy Note 5 and the S6 edge Plus. The new sighting shows that the two devices will get the same screen size.

According to Sam Mobile, the duo will come with a 5.67-inch Super AMOLED display, both with a crisp 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution. However, the new Note, which is codenamed "Project Noble," will don a flat screen while the other, being an S6 edge flavor, will get a dual edge curved display.

Under the hood, it is being said that the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 will be furnished with a 64-bit octa-core Samsung Exynos 7422 processor while the Galaxy S6 edge Plus will be fitted out with a hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor.

Sam Mobile reports that the pair of flagships will also get glass rears, which opens up the possibility that the batteries will not be removable and that there won't be microSD card slots to expand the storage space of the handsets. There is no word on how much space the Galaxy Note 5 will offer but the Galaxy S6 edge Plus is said to come with 32 GB of internal storage.

The S6 edge variant is also expected to boast a 16-megapixel rear-facing camera with Optical Image Stabilization and 4K video recording. It is also touted to allow users to store RAW images. This will be paired with a 5-megapixel shooter on the front.

Additionally, the bigger S6 edge will run Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, the latest available Android OS version there is. It also looks like it will pack a 3000 mAh battery. This handset will come minus the problematic RAM, which Galaxy S6 and S6 edge users have reportedly complained about.

The pair of new devices are said to be the stars in a special Samsung launch event scheduled in September.
