The Black Hood arc of television series "Riverdale" culminated in revealing the man under the Black Hood during the midseason finale. The show will be back for the second half of Season 2, and its creator said that this part of the season will be all about going back to "the basics."

"Riverdale" is a TV adaptation of the popular "Archie" series of comicbooks, which follows the story of Archie and friends' high school antics. Of course, it comes as no surprise to fans that when creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa said "back to basics," he means to say that the show will focus more on its high school roots.

And so the second half of the "Riverdale" season 2 will be less about other matters and more about high school hijinks. There will be a love triangle and a mixed student body consisting of Riverdale and Southside High.

One plot point worth noting is that Southside High will be closed for a time and most of its students — including fan favorite Jughead (played by Cole Sprouse) — will transfer to Riverdale High. This will happen in an episode titled "The Black Board Jungle."

Aguirre-Sacasa did not dismiss the "crime noir" aspect of the TV show outright. There will still be moments of crime and mystery, especially since the Black Hood arc still has some loose ends and unanswered questions left.

"There's still going to be a pulpy noir crime element to the second half, but there will be a resurgence of high school hijinks, and getting back to the roots of what Archie's all about, which is the kids and the school," Aguirre-Sacasa states in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.

Another major plot point the second half of season 2 is Betty Cooper (played by Lili Reinhart) finally meeting his brother Chic.

"Riverdale" will come back from its midseason break on Jan. 17 on The CW.
