While Atlus remains mum about the details of "Persona 5," the upcoming installment from the "Persona" series managed to land in the second spot of Famitsu's poll for most anticipated game for the year.

The result of the poll, which was conducted between Feb. 18 and Feb. 24, revealed that the much-anticipated role-playing game from the "Megami Tensei" franchise remains one of the titles that players continue to look forward to in 2016. It managed to beat Square Enix's "Dragon Ball XI" and "Final Fantasy VII Remake." "Final Fantasy XV" topped the poll, beating "Persona 5" by just a few votes.

"Persona" series director Katsura Hashino shared several details about the upcoming game in the Persona Magazine #2016 March issue, as translated by Gematsu.

According to the series creator, the game's dungeon level design will be very different from the previous installments of the game. Atlus also used Tokyo as the game's setting because they want players to venture into an adventure in a venue that they are familiar with.

Hashino also described some of the major characters in the game, including the protagonist's friend named Ryuji Sakamoto, who is said to have a kind but go-getter attitude. Another character, named Ann Takamaki, was mentioned, and she is described as a popular "quarter-American" who returned to Japan. She has a bright personality and the one who always lifts up the group's spirits.

Other characters in the game include Morgana, who is reportedly similar to the Persona 4 character named Teddie because of her ability to lead the path in the other world, and the eccentric character named Yusuke Kitagawa, who is known for his talent as a painter.

Hashino also revealed that the game developer is planning to make a special announcement regarding the 20th anniversary of the "Persona" franchise in the coming days.

"Persona 5" is expected to be released for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 sometime this year.
