Has "Outlander" chosen its Brianna?

Earlier this year, it was reported that casting on the show was underway for Brianna, Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire's (Caitriona Balfe) daughter as the character will make an appearance on the second season of the Starz series.

Now a new report says that Irish actress Maeve Foley has been cast on the show, and there are speculations that she could be playing the couple's daughter.

According to Daily Record, Foley has been welcomed to the show's cast by "Outlander" fans, but her role has not yet been confirmed. Since news about her casting was revealed, many have been thinking that she might be playing Brianna in the series, as Foley is about the same age as the character and has reddish hair.

On her Twitter page, Foley describes herself as a dancer, an actress, a model, and a member of the London Cheerleaders. Neither Foley nor "Outlander" executives have spoken about her being cast on the show.

In the "Outlander" novels by Diana Gabaldon, Brianna is described as being in her early 20s, and has the red hair and the slightly slanted blue eyes of her father. She is also said to be very tall and has a knack for inventing things. In the books, a grown-up Brianna decided to secretly follow her mother, as Claire went back to the 18th century to be with Jamie.

It has been reported that the new season will be set in Paris as Jamie and Claire live the life of aristocrats as they try to change history by attempting to stop the Jacobite rebellion and preventing the slaughter on Culloden Moor. Season 2 will be based on Gabaldon's second "Outlander" novel, "Dragonfly in Amber."

An official premiere date for season 2 of "Outlander" has yet to announced by Starz, but the show is expected to return to the network in Spring 2016.
