Following last season's major cliffhanger, the latest trailer for "Orange is the New Black" season 5 confirms that someone did really pull the trigger.

Netflix's acclaimed prison drama is wasting no time after ending the fourth season on a huge cliffhanger. Season 5 picks up exactly where the previous installment left off — with Daya (Dascha Polanco) pointing a gun at prison guard Thomas Humphrey (Michael Torpey). The rest of the inmates around her were last seen chanting indistinctly and loudly, but they all wanted her to do one thing: pull the trigger to get even with the new guards who made their time in prison worse than it already is. If the short sneak peek is any indication, it appears the cliffhanger will end up with a bang.

The new trailer from Netflix appears that it could also serve as the upcoming season's opening minute. The clip opens with Daya aiming a gun at officer Humphrey before cutting to a scene showing Piper (Taylor Schilling) and Alex (Laura Prepon). The two characters are away from the scene at the time, and they appear to be wandering through the Litchfield prison halls until they see the chaos that has been happening.

Alex tells Piper they should go and stay away from the riot, but a shocked Piper stood there for a while. The pair then ran away as more inmates joined in the chaos. Daya yells at everyone to be quiet but fan-favorite characters like Cindy (Adrienne Moore), Maritza (Diane Guerrero) and Taystee (Danielle Brooks) continue to order her to shoot him. The tense scene then cuts to black as it ends with an abrupt sound of a gunshot in the background.

In March, cast member Jessica Pimentel told The Music that major changes will be coming to Litchfield Penitentiary when the latest batch of episodes airs. "Expect the unexpected," she teased, adding, "Every character that you know and love will be in a situation that you won't ever believe that they're in. They're gonna be going through some changes that you won't expect, there's gonna be a nice mixing up of characters that have never interacted before."

The fifth season of "Orange is the New Black" will premiere on Friday, June 9, on Netflix.
