'No Man's Sky' release date: delayed launch too late for game make an impact?

Originally, fans pegged Hello Games' futuristic space exploration title "No Man's Sky" for a late 2015 release. However, the developer delayed the release of the title, and now the game is speculated to be rolled out in June. While some fans are eagerly waiting for the title, some observers are saying that "No Man's Sky" may have already missed its chance to be big in the industry.

According to Australia Network News, the new release date may be too late for Hello Games to establish "No Man's Sky" as a game-changer in the gaming industry. Previous speculations mentioned that Hello Games delayed the game's original release date of December 2015 because they have to integrate VR support into the title. However, Hello Games has yet to confirm this rumor.

If the rumor turns out to be false, fans who have waited long for the development of "No Man's Sky" will be disappointed, and this will be the biggest fallout for the title, according to the industry follower. In addition, numerous supposed teasers have already floated online about the game, and these served to hype up the title even more. In the end though, the high expectations of fans, if not met, will be one of the downfalls of the game.

Meanwhile, the declining interest in massive online multiplayer titles might also contribute to a somewhat lukewarm reception that "No Man's Sky" might get in its June release. According to Inverse, while the game itself is more of a procedural sci-fi exploration title than a free-for-all game like Bungie's "Destiny" or "Hearthstone," the title shares some similarities in their target market.

However, although the decline in MMOs at the moment is increasing due to some gameplay changes, the different mechanics for "No Man's Sky" such as subscription-free gaming might get players interested enough to try the game.
