According to speculations, the Nexus 7 tablet will stage a comeback this year. However, instead of the budget-friendly tablet that was a signature feature of the previous versions, the Nexus 7 2016 is said to be an above-average iteration and will be made by Huawei.

KnowYourMobile said that rumor has it Google will again tap Huawei for a Nexus iteration. However, instead of another successful smartphone like the Nexus 6P, Huawei will reportedly give their own take on a refreshed Nexus 7. In addition, Huawei is said to be considering an above-average specs sheet for the Nexus 7.

The industry follower listed the rumored specs of the new Nexus 7, and judging from the speculations, it seems that Huawei will try to balance above-average specs while maintaining the Nexus 7's known price range. In the report, it is mentioned that the next Nexus 7 will carry a Snapdragon 810 processor, which is a current-gen flagship chipset. However, with the launch of Snapdragon 920, the 810 SoC-powered devices may already be lowering their prices.

According to NeuroGadget, since the Nexus 7 tablet may come out in the middle of the year, during Google's I/O Conference, the new tablet might already feature Android N right out of the box. This will make the Nexus 7 a flagship tablet for the new platform, and it will take advantage of the supposed split-screen and multitasking modes for both Android tablet and smartphones – more likely Google's answer to Microsoft's Continuum feature on Windows 10.

It is also said that the Snapdragon 810 processor will be paired with at least 3 GB of RAM, and much like previous iterations, the new Nexus 7 will come in at least two versions, a WiFi-only iteration and a WiFi/4G one.
