NBA rumors: Some teams giving up on Ray Allen return after NBA trade deadline

The NBA trade deadline has passed and the second half of the NBA regular season is underway. Despite all that, NBA veteran Ray Allen continues to be undecided on whether he would be playing or not.

Though some teams are still waiting for an answer from the 39 year old NBA hotshot, it seems that others have given up and moved on already. Apparently time is of the essence and with the playoffs now on everyone's mind, chemistry and conditioning issues could hamper any team's chances should Allen for some reason decide to play after all.

There are some who believe that Ray Allen may have given his answer already – retiring. With no word on which team he would prefer to play as well, this part of the season could very well squelch any remaining hope of seeing the future Hall of Famer from ever playing on.

Teams such as the Cleveland Cavaliers and the San Antonio Spurs were hoping to latch on to Allen. But as things stand now, the Cavs and the Spurs as well as other teams may have already given up and moved on.

Returning at this point is already a tricky stage for even a veteran shooter as Allen and allowing each day to pass makes it even harder. Even if Allen would decide to suit up in the remaining months, it could be a waste of time since teams may likely rely more on present players rather than integrate a new one even if he is a Ray Allen.

And if this is indeed the end of a storied career for Allen, he leaves a legacy of being one of the best shooters the NBA has ever had. He holds the distinction of hitting more three pointers in the regular and post season, a legacy that will place him up there with other NBA greats.
