The cast of "Mr. Robot" in season 2 keeps growing as reports revealed that "The Brink" star Aasif Mandvi landed a role in the critically acclaimed series.

According to Deadline, Mandvi will portray the role of a special agent named Jesse. The character is described to be "a bit of a dog," which could mean that he will be one of those assigned to track down the group of hackers responsible for the fall of the multinational EvilCorp, possibly making Elliot Alderson's (Rami Malek) life more difficult in season 2.

Meanwhile, series creator Sam Esmail revealed that the theme for "Mr. Robot" season 2 will center on the issue on encryption and privacy.

During the discussion at this year's SXSW panel, Esmail mentioned that he wants the public to fully understand the debate about encryption and privacy, which began when Apple CEO Tim Cook opted not to cooperate with federal investigators during the height of the San Bernardino shooting probe.

"Our FBI consultants have a very strong point of view that encryption should allow for a third-party side door thing, which I am totally opposed to," Esmail said, as reported by Vulture. "I think we should have encryption ... if our show at least contributes to that conversation, I think it'll help in terms of getting people to join this debate, because it's an important one."

The series creator also mentioned that they are working with the FBI Cyber Crime unit as well as several tech consultants from Infosec for the second installment of the series. He also said that the effects of the cybercrime committed by Elliot and fsociety will be revealed in season 2, as well as Elliot's struggle to accept the results of his delusions.

"Mr. Robot" season 2 is slated to premiere in June or July this year.
