Moto Droid Turbo 2 release date, specs: Launch details leak online

Motorola's Droid TurboMotorola

It is already being bandied about in the rumor mill that Motorola is coming up with another handset before the year ends. Allegedly dubbed the Moto X Force, speculations say the device will be under that name only in Europe and Asia. For North America fans, it is rumored that the Moto X Force will launch instead as the Verizon-exclusive Moto Droid Turbo 2.

The follow-up to the original Droid Turbo is rumored to come out next month.

Purported details of the handset were posted by industry observer Phandroid, hinting at more specific information about the upcoming Moto release.

Apparently, Motorola and Verizon are gearing up for a major event for the Moto Droid Turbo 2's rollout on Oct. 29. The official announcement of the new handset, meanwhile, will be made two weeks prior, on Oct. 15. However, the website cautions that the dates are not set in stone and that the unveiling and launch might be done at a later time.

Meanwhile, Phandroid also received exclusive news that the Droid Turbo 2 will be the first in the series to be sold on Motorola's cuustomization site Moto Maker, in addition to Verizon retail stores. This should make Verizon users happy, since it means that they can order their very own customized Moto Droid Turbo 2 according to their specifications.

In addition, users who order through the Moto Maker site will reportedly get a one-time design replacement deal that is valid for two years. This means that users can still redesign their Turbo Droid 2 for free should they want to do so within the period.

According to observers such as Gadgets 360 of NDTV, the Droid Turbo 2 or Moto X Force will come with a 5.43-inch QHD shatterproof display, a Snapdragon 810 processor, and a 3-GB RAM with 32- and 64-GB internal storage options.

As for other details on the Moto Droid Turbo 2, the speculations on the specs sheet for the upcoming handset could remain rumors until a confirmation is given by Motorola.
