"Mortal Kombat X" is arguably one of the best fighting games in the market right now and NetherRealm Studios is doing everything they can to support the game post-launch. Their efforts include a multitude of free patches and updates that also include free character skins. Now they are releasing the first DLC character, Jason Voorhees.

Jason, from the "Friday the 13th" horror films, will be available starting May 5 for those who purchased the Kombat Pack, which is a $30 season pass. Those who haven't obtained a season pass can purchase him later on this May 12 2015. For those apprehensive on spending money, the character can be tried out for free in the game's "Living Towers."

Goro, one of the main antagonists in the history of "Mortal Kombat," is currently available for trial at the "Living Towers" and can be purchased separately as well. Jason's movesets and "Fatality" are still unknown so it is a welcome feature that players can demo the character before actually making a purchase.

According to Game Rant, it is very likely that the character's "Fatality" will make use of his iconic machete and may even replicate some of the kills from the movies. A new stage based on "Camp Crystal Lake" may also be included but this has not been confirmed by NetherRealm Studios.

Those purchase Jason Voorhees will also be rewarded with the Horror Pack which gives new fighter skins for Ermac, Reptile, and Mileena. 

Following the release of the Jason Voorhees DLC, fans can expect to see the Predator, Tanya, and Tremor later become available via DLC as well. No release date for these characters have yet been announced. Ed Boon, series co-creator, also stated that the non-playable characters from the game's Story Mode will later become available via the Story Pack DLC.

"Mortal Kombat X" is already available for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. A port for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 is scheduled to release later this year.
