The countdown to the release of the long-awaited action role-playing game "Monster Hunter: World" continues, with its official launch on PlayStation 4 (PS4) and Xbox One just days away. Fans of the series have one more reason to be excited as Capcom announces a free content update on its first day of release. For people who are not fans of the series, this may yet be another reason to pick up the game.

The highly anticipated game is currently on its third and final beta run on the PS4, which runs from Jan. 19 to Jan. 22. According to Monster Hunter's official Twitter account, PS4 players have spent a whopping 10 million hours collectively playing the single-player mode beta alone.

In a recent live stream on Capcom TV, producer Ryozo Tsujimoto appeared to educate fans on the content included in the day one patch. The live stream, which was in Japanese, was documented and published with screenshots on gaming website, Siliconera.

According to Tsujimoto, the update features some new content and revamped features from the older Monster Hunter games such as the loveable Poogie, a pig-like creature that helps the player hunt for treasure and fetch items. Version 1.0 update will also include a Gallery Mode in which players can watch unlocked cutscenes on-demand.

The best and biggest feature coming with the update is the launch of online play and its matchmaking system, which was not available in the beta. Players can group up in parties of up to four players and play together online, a feature that has long been craved by fans of the game's predecessors. Players no longer need to meet up in person and link up their devices with link cables. "Monster Hunter: World" will, quite literally, be true to its namesake and be available to the world online.

"Monster Hunter: World's" final beta ends on Jan. 22 and the full game will be available on PS4 and Xbox One on Jan 26.
