It was in the latter part of 2014 when the Microsoft Lumia 830 came out. Now however, it looks like the said mid-range phone could be on its last gasp of breath with the device now being discontinued at least in some countries such as India.

The discontinuance of the Lumia 830 could hint at the possible coming of a new one, the Lumia 840. But the thing is that the Lumia 830 is only being discontinued in India and not other regions. Still, it never hurts to speculate considering India has a wide market that could be interested in a new mid-range phone variant.

Stocks of the Lumia 830 has reportedly been depleted in most India stores and from the looks of it, they will not be replenished. So would that be enough to indicate that India stores are freeing up their inventory for a new batch of phones like maybe the Lumia 840?

Rumors about the coming of the Lumia 840 came out last week. The said mid-range phone is expectedly an improved version of the Lumia 830, a device that drew a lot of criticism due to perhaps its hasty introduction in the market in the latter part of 2014.

Among the rumored improvements of the Lumia 840 include a 5-inch display, a saner processor, a 13 or 14MP rear camera and an improved front-facing camera among others.

Assuming that the Lumia 840 does come out soon, chances of the device coming out with the Windows 10 OS may not be the case. The word out is that the Lumia 840 will most likely come out the GDR2 update and users will eventually have to resort to a manual update to the Windows 10 in the future.

As far as pricing is concerned, there is no word yet on how much the Lumia 840 would cost. However, it could play somewhere above the lines of $382, the price the Lumia 830 carries.
