Fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe are in for another treat starting May 2015 when Netflix rolls out the first of four 13-episode superhero series that will ultimately lead to a fifth series, "The Defenders." The initial season will present "Marvel's Daredevil," the blind lawyer-by-day, vigilante-by-night superhero who uses his highly-attuned senses to fight crime.

Fans will remember Ben Affleck in the title role in the 2003 film of the same name. This time, it will be Charlie Cox who will play Matt Murdock a.k.a. Daredevil, who is out to take down villains like Leland Owlsley (Bob Gunton) and Kingpin/Wilson Fisk (Vincent D'Onofrio).

But while Daredevil takes the lead role, that doesn't make him a perfect, squeaky-clean superhero. Entertainment Weekly reports that the show as well as the Daredevil will have a dark side.

During the New York ComicCon, Cox said, as quoted by The Hollywood Reporter, "We're making a show about human emotion, conflict and inner turmoil... We're meeting a man who is a lawyer by day and believes in the law and justice, and at night, is taking the law into his own hands and deciding what justice should be for himself. All that time in between is battling with that concept."

The series will also take on a morally ambiguous stance, with both "sides" having their own reasons for making choices, and there would be times when viewers wouldn't know who to root for – protagonist Murdock or antagonist Fisk.

According to showrunner Steven S. DeKnight, "There are no heroes or villains. It's just people making different choices."

D'Onofrio also said of his character, "Our Fisk, he's a child and he's a monster. Every move that he makes and everything that he does in our story comes from his foundation of morality inside himself... We're playing it real, we're playing it emotional, and moment to moment, and I'm digging it."

Aside from Cox, D'Onofrio, and Gunton, the show also features Deborah Ann Woll (the mysterious Karen Page), Elden Henson (friend lawyer Foggy Nelson), Rosario Dawson (nurse Claire Temple), and Scott Glenn (mentor and martial artist Stick). The series also stars Peter Shindoka, Ayelet Zurer, Toby Leonard Moore, and Vondie Curtis-Hall.

The other four TV series that will follow "Daredevil" are "Jessica Jones," "Luke Cage," "Iron Fist," and "The Defenders."

And when asked if "Agents of SHIELD" will have an effect on the series, head of Marvel Television Jeph Loeb said, "I have two answers: one, that's a level-seven question, and two, I think you know — it's all connected, man."

"Marvel's Daredevil" will be shown on Netflix in 2015.
