The MacBook Pro 2016 has been the subject of numerous rumors over recent months, and now the latest one could be providing more information in terms of what potential buyers can expect from it.

According to Neurogadget, one of the most widespread rumors concerning the MacBook Pro 2016 suggests that the new laptop will be featuring Intel's line of Skylake processors upon its release.

The news of the MacBook Pro 2016 possibly using the Skylake processor is significant for a few reasons.

First off, the new processor would open the door for significant performance boosts coming to the MacBook Pro 2016. The new processor could reportedly allow the MacBook Pro 2016 to experience 17 percent better central processing unit (CPU) performance on top of a 41 percent improvement in terms of how its graphics processing unit (GPU) operates.

The new processor could also provide better battery efficiency for the laptop as well as allow for it to exhibit a slimmer design.

The MacBook Pro 2016 possibly being equipped with Intel's Skylake processor is also significant because that could hint at a possible release date for the laptop.

According to the Australian News Network, the Skylake processors are expected to go into production during the last quarter of 2015, meaning that could just about rule out any possibility of the MacBook Pro 2016 being released in the same year.

If the MacBook Pro 2016 does indeed end up using the Skylake processor, that could mean it will not be released until 2016 at the earliest.

Aside from featuring the Skylake processor, the new laptop is also expected to come with a bundle of new features.

The MacBook Pro 2016 could reportedly feature the Nvidia GeForce GTX 950 graphics card upon its release, and might run the latest version of the OS X El Capitan right out of the box.

The new laptop is also expected to feature a pair of Type-C USB ports.
