Kickass Torrents, The Pirate Bay proxies, and others are no more on the web

Proxies for popular file sharing websites such as Kickass Torrents and The Pirate Bay, among many other sites of their ilk have now gone missing from the web.

Websites such as Kickass Torrents and The Pirate Bay are the online domains people visit in order to search for and download unlicensed and unauthorized files that maybe related to films and music. Websites such as these have been monitored closely by the authorities and have even been shut down following complaints from people within the movie and music industries.

These file sharing websites are also no longer accessible in certain countries. Some of the countries that no longer provide access to these websites include Denmark, France, Italy, and the UK, according to Torrent Freak.

Still, given the popularity of file sharing websites, users and the operators of the sites themselves have attempted to go around the blockades set up by the authorities through using a different kind of website known as a reverse proxy. The reverse proxy basically provides a way for people to still access the content on the blocked website by jumping through some hoops.

These reverse proxy websites have increased in number over the years, and these are also the ones that have now begun to disappear.

According to Billboard, many but not all of the proxy sites have disappeared, although it's unclear just how many of them still remain and whether or not those may still go away as well.

The proxy sites that have disappeared are connected to two larger sites named ProxyAds and ProxyHouse.

Currently, many of the proxy sites that have gone missing from the web are now on sale again, so in theory, they could still make their way back online and could yet again provide easy access to the main file sharing hubs they led to before.
