'Justice League 2' movie cast, plot rumors: Could there be a Green Lantern?

The "Justice League" movie is expected to be among the top films to watch out for in 2017 but for DC comic fans, the league of super friends is simply incomplete without the Green Lantern. However, there could be a possibility that GL may be included in the second installment set for 2019.

Back in 2011, a Green Lantern movie starring Ryan Reynolds came out but was far from a box-office smash. However, a reboot of that 2011 flick is reportedly under development and is set to come out on June 19, 2020.

And with the date far off even from the "Justice League" part two, it initially signals that there would be no sign of the ring-bearing superhero. That is unless Green Lantern would make an appearance in Justice League part two and then get his solo film in 2020. Such a scenario could be possible.

However, another matter that needs to be cleared is which Green Lantern will be used.

In the comic version, 2011 movie and earlier animated Justice League films, Green Lantern would be better known as Hal Jordan. However in the last animated TV series, Green Lantern was played by John Stewart.

Such seems to be an issue right now although celebrities Tyrese Gibson and David Ramsey did seem to appear interested in the part. Of the two, Ramsey (who plays John Diggle in Arrow) seemed to be open to the playing the role although it seems unlikely considering his character has now become an important part of that TV series.

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson was earlier tied up to the GL part until he was cast as Black Adam in the Shazam movie. But Johnson did clear out that he and DC had never talked about him taking on the GL role although he did mention that he would have wanted to take on the role of John Stewart.

A peak at IMDb.com, will show only the name of the writers for the Green Lantern film. With 2020 still far off, that should be updated as we go along.

The same holds true for the Justice League 2 where only Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck and Gal Gadot are listed in the cast portion.

With no leads on who of the two (Hal Jordan or John Stewart) and which actor would be taking on the role, the "Justice League" just wouldn't be complete without Green Lantern. And hopefully he does join Superman, Batman and the others once Justice League 2 does come in full swing.
