It seems like the larger versions of smartphones are creating new waves in the market today, as three new flagship phones fight to dominate the mobile device industry this year.

Even as Apple Inc. was getting ready to roll out the iPhone 6 Plus in mid-September, the largest version of their smartphone to date, Samsung already announced that their new Galaxy Note 4 will debut on the shelves in the latter part of 2014. Not to be outdone, the comebacking Canadian mobile giant BlackBerry also released its newest product called BlackBerry Passport last Sept. 24.

With all the new mobile devices being offered nowadays, how can the public choose which one is the most ideal to their needs?

Here is a comparison between the three flagship phones:

Display

The iPhone 6 Plus comes in a 5.5-inch LED-backlit IPS LCD with 1080 x 1920 pixel shatter proof-glass. The BlackBerry Passport, on the other hand, has a 4.5-inch IPS LCD display with 1440 x 1440 pixel screen and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Meanwhile, Samsung Galaxy Note 4 has a larger 5.7-inch Super AMOLED capacitative touchscreen with 1440 x 2560 pixel display, also protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

External Features

Apple's flagship phone runs with the use of the latest iOS 8, with the signature Apple A8 chipset, Dual-core 1.4 GHz Cyclone CPU, PowerVR GX6450 GPU, and powered by a non-removable Li-Po 2915 mAh battery.

BlackBerry Passport has the latest Blackberry 10.3 OS with Qualcomm MSM8974AA Snapdragon 801 chipset and Quad-core 2.2 GHz Krait 400 CPU and Andreno 330 GPU. It has a non-removable Li-Ion 3450 mAh battery.

The Galaxy Note 4, on the other hand, runs using the Android 4.4.4 KitKat operating system, with Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 chipset and Quad-core 2.7 GHz Krait 450 CPU and Adreno 420 GPU. It is powered by a 3220 mAh battery.

Camera

All the flagship phones claim to have superb image capturing capacities. The iPhone 6 Plus features an 8-megapixel primary camera with optical image stabilization, dual LED flash, as well as a phase detection autofocus capability. It can also perform a simultaneous HD video and image recording and boasts a 1080p@60fps video capacity. Its 1.2-megapixel secondary camera has a face detection function.

The BlackBerry Passport has a 13-megapixel primary camera with LED flash, optical image stabilization, as well as autofocus capacities. Its video capacity can record 1080p@60fps. It is also equipped with a 2-megapixel secondary front-facing camera.
