This month, Apple made a surprise release of the iOS 11.2 update, which targets to fix a couple of system issues caused by the previous OS version. But, the highlight of the said update is the Apple Pay Cash feature. The first few days went well for the iOS 11.2, until users found out that the update introduced another issue which deletes the Apple Pay Cash permanently from their devices.

According to iDrop News, the iOS 11.2 glitch allows users to remove the iMessage app linked to Apple Pay Cash. Once deleted, the feature can no longer be used as there is no other way to reinstall it. For now, this particular iOS 11.2 bug only affects users residing in the United States, given that the Apple Pay Cash feature is only accessible to limited areas.

While Apple Pay Cash is a faster and more efficient way to transfer money among people, some users may opt not to avail this feature. If users do not wish to use their device to make transactions, they can uninstall the app anytime they want. Unfortunately, the iOS 11.2 glitch does not give them an option either to retrieve Apple Pay Cash if ever they changed their mind. In fact, the feature cannot be retrieved even after rebooting the device. If this ever happens to a user, online payments can only be done by calling on Siri.

The Inquirer reported that Apple is already aware of the new issue brought by the iOS 11.2 update. A support representative from the company stated that the only way to get the Apple Pay Cash back to the user's phone is to completely delete and restore all system files since the feature is part of the iOS software. It is indeed a tedious process compared to simply reinstalling Apple Pay Cash, so a software update is expected to arrive in the near future to fix this.

Aside from the Apple Pay Cash reinstall issue, the iOS 11.2 has also caused an error in the iPhone X's Face ID system. After installing the latest iOS update, the device displays the "Face ID is not available" prompt upon accessing the face unlock feature.

To recall, Apple has released the iOS 11.2 a few days in advance due to the Springboard bug that kept on setting off the December 2nd notification alert.
