'The Incredibles 2' release date set for 2017? Potential storyline details

The IncrediblesDisney/Pixar

As reported here in Christian Today, director Brad Bird is already working on the script for "The Incredibles 2" and it may include scenes and sequences that did not make the cut for the first film. Now, there's more good news for fans as it appears that the film may be ready by 2017.

Pixar's current release schedule indicates they will release two animated films per year. The only film they have scheduled for 2017 is "Toy Story 4" with the other 2017 project currently unidentified. Given that Bird is already working on "The Incredibles 2," it is likely that this will fill in the 2017 slot.

With regard to the film's plot, very few details have surfaced but a possible clue comes from an interview with actor Samuel L. Jackson, as cited by Cross Map.

In the interview, Jackson, who voiced the superhero Frozone in the first film, stated that he is curious to see how Jack-Jack turned out. Fans will recall that at the very end of the first film, it was revealed that the family's baby has very unique super powers such as the ability to transform into other creatures. Since the second film is said to be set 11 or 12 years after the first film, then Jack-Jack will have already grown into a young teenager. The report states that the sequel may involve someone manipulating the youngest Incredible for him to use his powers for evil and against his own family.

As for Frozone, Jackson stated that Bird did tell him that the character will be in the sequel although to what capacity has not yet been specified.

"Everytime I run into Brad, he always tells me Frozone is part of what's going on in the sequel, so I have to believe that," Jackson explained. "I guess they could be the Incredibles without Frozone, but I think Frozone would be a wonderful addition to what's already there."
