HTC One M9 'Hima' rumors: two variants with different processors

Although HTC announced the new generation of HTC Desire smartphones at the recent Consumer Electronics Show held in Las Vegas, it still kept the rumored HTC One M9 under wraps.

Now, the rumor mill has produced new suppositions, saying that the HTC One M9 will have two variants boasting different processors. One of the smartphone variants will be powered by the new Snapdragon 810 SoC from Qualcomm, while the other model will feature a MediaTek processor.

It is speculated that the variant with MediaTek chipset will the cheaper model. Taiwanese media reported that HTC is ready to try the new MediaTek MT6795 octa-core CPU with 64-bit architecture and clock speed of 2.2 GHz and LTE modem. On the other hand, the handset with Qualcomm's latest chip will be the pricier model.

Aside from a new processor, other purported features of the HTC One M9 include a 5-inch screen display with 1080p Full HD resolution, an Adreno 420 graphic chipset, 3 GB of RAM, Android 5.0.1 Lollipop OS with HTC Sense 7 UI, a 20.7-megapixel camera, and a 13-megapixel front-facing camera or an Ultrapixel shooter. However, these should be taken with a grain of salt until HTC announces something official.

Meanwhile, HTC spiked the hopes of waiting fans when the company's senior global online communication manager Jeff Gordon posted on Twitter that the company will unveil a series of "best-ever" products this year. However, the tweets did not provide any hint on the features that consumers should expect from the upcoming devices, neither did it reveal the release date of the company's upcoming offerings.

For the past weeks, the HTC One M9 rumor mill has been busy churning up gueses on when the device will be released, although it is safe to assume that its arrival is imminent. Most recently, the handset was spotted in AnTuTu benchmark with model number "HTC653LVW (hima)."

After the alleged HTC flagship smartphone snubbed the CES, waiting fans are now crossing their fingers that the company will make an announcement soon. According to reports, the Taiwanese OEM manufacturer is prepping for a press event in late March after the Mobile World Congress 2015 to showcase its high-end smartphone.
