'Guardians of the Galaxy 2' sequel update: Marvel boss accidentally reveals official title

 Marvel Studios

Did the Marvel boss accidentally slip the title of the upcoming sequel of "Guardians of the Galaxy" in one of his most recent interviews?

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige spoke with Collider's editor-in-chief Steve "Frosty" Weintraub during the press panel of Marvel's upcoming film "Ant-Man," where Feige seemed to have revealed the title of the second "Guardians of the Galaxy" film while he was talking about its filming schedule.

"We start shooting Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2 in February-March 2016," Feige stated.

The Collider chief later on confirmed to the Marvel boss if he had just mentioned the official title of the sequel, but Feige seemed to have realized his mistakes and refused to provide a clear answer. But the writers from the online publication have sharp memories, since they remember that the title of the famous mix tape owned by Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) in the first movie is titled "Peter Quill's Awesome Mix Vol.1."

"Guardians of the Galaxy" director James Gunn later confirmed in his Twitter account that "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2" is indeed be the sequel's official title. Gunn also wrote about the title slip in his Facebook account, saying:

"Kevin Feige recently let the title slip while doing Ant-Man press, which I'm really happy about because God knows I've let more than one thing slip accidentally while chattering away on this FB page. Also, hats off to some intrepid fans who figured out the title a couple of days after I posted the cover page. More than one person guessed 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2′ – I wanted so badly to give you props at the time, but knew I had to wait."

The witty filmmaker also made fun of Feige's accidental information slip at the end of his post.

"Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" is slated for release on May 5, 2017.
