Growing Together with the People’s Preacher – C H Spurgeon

In response to the huge success of the docu-drama ‘CH Spurgeon the People’s Preacher’, CWR has produced a compelling DVD resource entitled ‘Growing Together with the People’s Preacher’.

There is no getting away from the fact that Spurgeon was the most famous and most popular preacher of the Victorian age.

By the time Charles Haddon Spurgeon was in his mid-twenties, he was preaching to crowds of more than 10,000.

His thoroughly biblical, down to earth and dynamic gospel preaching appealed to the masses.

Outside of his famous pulpit he initiated and supported an enormous array of social welfare projects and grappled with the challenges life threw at him in a way that earned him tremendous respect.

This great new resource is in four parts and aimed at small groups. Peter Morden author of the book that accompanied the original film has written a 32 page workbook that contains icebreakers, Bible readings, background information, questions to provoke group discussion and suggested prayers.

The highlight is the film footage edited carefully into four parts of approximately 20 minutes per session. Each of these segments carries an introduction from Peter. He takes us to sites related to Spurgeon’s life and career, adds biographical detail and sets the tone for each session.

Additional personal booklets can be purchased separately. These encourage and enable group members to reflect between sessions and apply to their own life some of the powerful lessons and principles evident in the great man’s Christian experience.
