The Black Claw has gained leverage over Nick (David Giuntoli) in "Grimm" season 5 after Adalind (Claire Coffee) was forced by the group to leave him and help Renard (Sasha Roiz) in exchange for her child's safety.

Black Claw wanted Adalind and Renard to be projected as a portrait of a happy family with their child Diana (Hannah R. Loyd) and baby Kelly, a ruse expected to win the public's heart.

In a vanishing note left by Adalind to Nick in the previous episode of "Grimm" season 5, the hexenbiest told him that by succumbing to Black Claw's wishes, he will also be able protect him.

But Nick knows that he isn't the one in need of protection but his family, so he springs into action in "Grimm" season 5, episode 20 titled "Bad Night" to rescue them.

In the "Grimm" season 5 promo, Nick is extremely furious about his family's dire situation and is convinced that the death of Adalind and baby Kelly's captors will be the only way this crisis is going to end.

It remains to be seen what Renard himself has planned. Some "Grimm" fans believe that he won't go as far as putting his family in danger just to be mayor and that there's something else that's pushing him to do this.

He might simply be a pawn to the Black Claw and might just be acting as such under threats from the group. This possibility spawned rumors that during Renard and Adalind's charade, their romantic relationship will be rekindled in "Grimm" season 5.

This also opens the possibility for Nick to restore his with Juliette's feisty doppelganger Eve (Bitsie Tulloch). The actress revealed to Collider recently that she will be "shocked" if an Eve-Nick pairing won't be explored in "Grimm."

With the conditions at their worst, romance may not be inside Nick's mind right now. So long as Diana's killer powers continue out of hand and Black Claw finds a way to use these powers to their advantage, Nick has no time to date for now.

"Grimm" season 5 returns after a break on May 13 with episode 20 "Bad Night" airing May 13 at 9 p.m. ET on NBC.
