The pair of Google Nexus 2016 smartphones is reportedly being poised to take on the biggest players in the flagship business such as Samsung and Apple.

In an Antutu listing for the Nexus 2016 Marlin, the bigger of the two models, it was shown that its specs and features are enough to take on other flagships available right now.

The listing showed that the Google Nexus 2016 smartphone will be fitted out with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor along with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage.

The display will boast a 2K pixel resolution, which should make for excellent visual quality. As far as the size of the display, previous rumors suggested it will be 5.5 inches in size.

In the camera department, users can expect a 13MP camera on the back and an 8MP selfie snapper on the front for the Google Nexus 2016 Marlin.

Another listing that made its way online alsorevealed that the Sailfish model will come with the same set of specs save for the resolution as the smaller Google Nexus 2016 device will have Full HD.

The size of the display is expected to be different too as this will also distinguish the device from its big brother. The Nexus Sailfish is expected to don a 5.2-inch touchscreen.

In a recent leaked, both handsets were revealed to come with a sleek design thanks to their rear glass and metal and glass chassis. The same leaked showed a fingerprint scanner on the back.

Of course, the Google Nexus 2016 devices are expected to be the first handsets to don the all-new Android 7.0 Nougat, which is rumored to be tomorrow – Aug. 22 to be exact.

As for the release date of the Google Nexus 2016 duo, rumor mills have been suggesting an Oct. 4 launch. However, which is a bit late considering last year's iterations released September.
