Former American Idol contestant Kimberly Henderson, 26 almost had an abortion but her Christian faith saved her from giving up her baby.

She shared her touching testimony on her Facebook page, and detailed her visit to the abortion clinic two years ago. "I sat in the abortion clinic for nearly 7 hours. I remember wearing a pink t shirt that was soaking wet from crying. I had my mind made up," she wrote.

Henderson's boyfriend was cheating on her and as she already had small kids, she was afraid of what other people would think. She said she felt determined to go through with the abortion even though her heart felt heavy.

"I felt like I was about to make a horrible, horrible decision and God was giving me signs to not do it," she said.

She explained that her daughter got sick the day of her planned abortion and her car even broke down. But she still made it to the clinic.

When the desk lady called her name, Henderson fumbled through her wallet to retrieve her license, but instead a card fell out. On the back of the card was the Bible verse Isaiah 41:10: "Don't be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand."

"I knew God was speaking to me," said Henderson, adding: "Two of my best friends called me just in time and said the most comforting things. 'I will be there for you. There's a reason God gave you that gift.'"

Right then and there Henderson changed her mind and walked out. On the way out, she encountered a young girl who was around 19 years old and she asked Henderson if she was going to continue with the abortion.

When Henderson said no, the young girl said she wished she could be brave and keep her baby too, but circumstances were forcing her to give it up. As their conversation ended, the young girl said, "When you see your baby's face for the first time you're gonna be so glad you walked out of here today."

And that statement proved very true for Henderson when she saw her daughter Vaida for the first time. "She gave me a feeling of joy that I can't even explain. A kind of joy that if a war was going on outside I wouldn't even know it. I am so in love," she shared.

Henderson named her baby Vaida Everly, which means beautiful life. "My once tiny 6lb baby is now 18lbs. Full of life. Full of energy. Loves to laugh. Loves to smile. She is just that - a beautiful life," she said.
