War Room director and actor Alex Kendrick believes that now is the time when Christians should take a stand for what they believe in and fight for what is right.

In a video that was shared on the movie's Facebook page, Kendrick talked about the upcoming movie and how people can use prayer to gain strength and perspective before going to war.

"This whole War Room parallel follows what the military does as they prepare in their war to go into battle with how we are called to spend time privately with the Lord," he said in the video message. "Matthew 6:6 talks about in the inner room or our closet, we seek God first, before going into the war.

"Often times Christians, because there is so much to lose they don't really get on the front lines of battle," he added. "If there was ever a time in our culture we needed Christians to stand up for what they believe to really go to the Lord for guidance, it's now!"

The faith-based family drama War Rom is the fifth film from Alex and his brother Stephen Kendrick, the first four being Fireproof, Courageous, Facing the Giants, and Flywheel. It is written and directed by the Kendrick brothers together with Gary Wheeler.

The film releases to theatres on August 28 and the producers hope it will inspire cinemagoers about the power of prayer.

The movie was filmed in Charlotte, North Carolina and the cast includes Alex Kendrick, T.C. Stallings, and comedian Michael Jr. Other cast members include Bible teacher Priscilla Shirer and renowned Christian speaker Beth Moore.
