The Detroit Pistons added veteran help for their backcourt after acquiring point guard Steve Blake from the Brooklyn Nets in exchange for power forward Quincy Miller.

Blake became part of the Nets through a draft night trade deal from the Portland Trail Blazers and is set to earn $2.2 million in the 2015-16 season.

The 35-year-old athlete played 81 games for the Blazers last season as a backup to All-Star Damian Lillard and averaged 4.3 points, 1.7 rebounds and 3.6 assists.

Blake's stint with Portland during the 2014-15 season is already his fourth with the team.

Along with the Blazers, the 12-year veteran also played for the Washington Wizards, Denver Nuggets, Milwaukee Bucks, Los Angeles Clippers, Los Angeles Lakers, and the Golden State Warriors.

Blake is also a playoff veteran taking part in a total of 49 postseason games in his career.

He will be providing veteran leadership and guidance to Detroit's facilitators Reggie Jackson and Brandon Jennings.

Blake may also earn his minutes since Jennings is healing from a surgery on his Achilles tendon.

Jennings was a major key for the Pistons' winning run during the first half of the 2014-15 season and it seemed like they were bound for the playoffs until he suffered the injury.

Meanwhile Jackson was a great addition coming from the Oklahoma City Thunder last season where he emerged as a scorer and continued that when he joined the Pistons. 

Blake will be joining notable acquisitions center Aron Baynes and forwards Ersan Ilyasova and Marcus Morris. 

Baynes played all three of his NBA seasons with the San Antonio Spurs and was part of the 2014 championship team. 

Meanwhile, Ilyasova spent his seven-year career with the Milwaukee Bucks but was traded to give way to much younger players like Giannis Antetokounmpo and Michael Carter-Williams who are starting to emerge in the team. 

Morris was acquired from the Phoenix Suns and has averaged double-digits in scoring last season.
