'Dark Souls III' DLC release date news: next dlc for the title won't be released until fall

Dark Souls 3 From Software, Bandai Namco

"Dark Souls III" has proven to be yet another hit for developer From Software and rumblings have been spreading regarding any upcoming DLC. According to a report from Video Gamer, publisher Bandai Namco did confirm there will be additional content coming and that the first DLC pack releases this fall.

Fans have been speculating about future DLC given that there already is a season pass available for $25 and it was leaked several months prior to the launch of the game that there would be two DLC packs that will be released before the end of the year. Unfortunately, the leaks did not reveal what kind of content the DLC packs would contain.

Video Gamer points out that Bandai Namco has confirmed that the first of the two DLC packs will arrive by Fall although a more specific release date has not been divulged. It is expected that that the first DLC will introduce new weapons, armor, enemies and a new location that may be tied to a new story arc or mini-quest.

While the content of the new DLC is undetermined at this point, series creator Hidetaka Miyazaki did announce in a report from Gamespot that the DLC will be the very last piece they work for the "Dark Souls" franchise as there are no plans for a fourth game, instead allowing From Software to work on an entirely new IP.

"There's absolutely no plan right now for any sequels, spin-offs, or tie-ins," Miyazaki stated. "But I can't say for certain the possibility is zero percent. What is certain for now is, to me personally 'Dark Souls' is over. So rather than make another sequel, I think it's time we take a step to a new direction."

He did confirm that he would allow his staff to work on a new "Dark Souls" game in the future although he may no longer be a part of the game's development.
