'Dark Souls 3' DLC release date: First DLC could be arriving in September

Dark Souls 3 From Software, Bandai Namco

It was previously reported that after the launch of the upcoming two DLC packs for "Dark Souls 3" it is possible that developer From Software will not be returning to the franchise some time soon. Neither DLC has been given a release date but a report from iTech Post hints the first might be arriving this September.

The first DLC has only been given a Fall release window, based on the information from the Season Pass, which players can already avail of on Steam. However, a more specific release date has yet to be announced although it is heavily speculated that the DLC would be launching by the last week of August or the first two weeks of September.

What the DLC might contain is also a mystery although it is expected to bring in newer locations, more quests and story, more monsters and new weapons or gear to continue raising the game's diversity and challenge. It is also unknown just how large the DLC is going to be and what prerequisites there are for the content it brings.

In regards to the second DLC, it is reported that it will not launch until early 2017. This indicates that it might launch by March 2017, the same month that "Dark Souls 3" launched earlier this year. It is rumored to have much more emphasis on story in order to complete the game's narrative and because it is the last game in the franchise.

Once the second DLC launches in 2017 the "Dark Souls" franchise will be done for a while and the developers are currently working on a myriad of other projects. It has been previously reported that fans speculate one of these new projects is a reboot of the "Armored Core" franchise although the developers have yet to confirm if this is true.

The Season Pass can be purchased online now for $29.99.
