'Batman v Superman' plot summary reveals Lux Luthor's evil plans

A new synopsis for "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" was released on the Odeon Cinema website and it reveals the film will have more than just Batman (Ben Affleck) holding Superman (Henry Cavill) responsible for the destruction of Metropolis in "Man of Steel" as Lex Luthor (Jessie Eisenberg) will be manipulating both of them.

The synopsis reads as follows:

"Clark Kent doesn't trust Gotham's mysterious masked vigilante. Bruce Wayne doesn't trust the alien who nearly destroyed Metropolis. And Lex Luthor, who hates Superman more than anyone, is manipulating both of them for his own twisted ends."

Luthor manipulating Superman comes as no surprise given that Luthor has always been portrayed as a genius puppet master who works behind the scenes, but as stated in a report from Screen Rant, it does come as a shock that Luthor will also be tricking Batman into fighting Superman given that Batman is touted as the world's greatest detective.

The synopsis states that Luthor hates Superman, although it doesn't exactly explain why. However, it was previously reported that Forbes magazine featured a mock article "interviewing" Lex Luthor. It is in this article from which some explanation can be derived.

In the interview, Luthor explains that his father originates from Germany and this has made Luthor somewhat skeptical about powerful people claiming to be working for the greater good, similar perhaps to how Hitler claimed he was fighting for the greater good when he led the whole world into war.

To be exact, Luthor stated his father "came from a country where the government, in the guise of protector, had absolute control over the citizens."

It is speculated that Luthor does not trust Superman because he too has incredible power and claims to be fighting on the good side when many still hold him responsible for the destruction of Metropolis.

"Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" opens in theaters on March 25, 2016.
