Award-winning singer Barry Manilow has reportedly wed his longtime manager, Garry Kief.

US Weekly confirmed on Wednesday that the couple actually tied the knot a year ago in a surprise ceremony. 

Manilow has fiercely protected his privacy over his decades-long career, and has not addressed rumours regarding his sexual orientation or relationships. 

In 2012, he told The Telegraph that he was "happily single," but would not reveal more. "I am a private guy... You can only come into my world if I invite you in," he said.

"From the very beginning that was the rule. I learned how to deal with the publicity/press thing. You just say, 'I'm not interested in talking about [that].' Even the names of my dogs! 

"They are my kids, my friends are my friends and my family, they are mine. That's the only way I can survive. I have to keep that to me. I don't want strangers knowing everything. If that happened, that would drive me crazy.

Sources say the 71-year-old invited 20 to 30 of his family members and close friends to his Palm Springs home under the guise of a luncheon. The confidants actually witnessed the men exchange vows at the private ceremony. 

Manilow and Kief "are committed to one another and have been for a very long time," a source said. "They have a great relationship. Garry has always been there for Barry."

Although no legal documents were signed, PEOPLE reported that both men have been spotted wearing wedding bands.

"He's at a point now where he's got his career and personal life in a great place and he really doesn't care what people think... He's in love and happy," the source insisted. 

Manilow was previously married to his high school sweetheart, Susan Deixler, in 1964. The marriage was annulled in 1966.
