Android 6.0 Marshmallow release date for HTC, Samsung, Sony devices to come after Nexus upgrades

Android 6.0 Marshmallow Android Developers Blog

Google seems to be putting its final touches on its upcoming platform, Android M. Observers expect the company to drop and release the final consumer version of Android Marshmallow, the sixth Android iteration, anytime within the month, and to progressively roll it out to various mobile devices.

With the release of Android 6.0 Marshmallow, industry observers are also expecting that one of the earliest releases of the final version of the platform will be for the Nexus lineup. There might be some truth to the observations since it is also rumored that two new Nexus smartphones will roll out soon, both already coming with new operating system right out of their boxes. According to Talk Android, the new iterations of Nexus devices from both LG and Huawei are slated to be announced in an event on Sept. 29 and will go on pre-orders next month.

Meanwhile, after the Nexus devices are updated to the new platform, other devices will follow, particularly the most recently released handsets. According to PC Advisor, some of the confirmed updates for the new platform are HTC's One M8, One M9, and One M9+. Meanwhile, another HTC flagship, codenamed "Aero," will supposedly be released later this year with Android 6.0 Marshmallow right out of the box.

Another tech giant that fans expect to immediately adapt the new Android 6.0 version is Samsung as the company is one of the biggest players in the Android market. All of Samsung's recent mobile flagships run on Android, particularly the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge, and the recently released Galaxy Note 5 and S6 Edge Plus.

In addition, Sony is also in the running to upgrade to Marshmallow, especially their newer flagships like the three Z5 variants and previous Z iterations up to the Z3. Also, as written by Tech Radar, although Sony still has to officially confirm the rumors, the new Android version will also make it to some older Sony phones like the Xperia M4 Aqua.
