There are a lot of words we can use when we are talking or speaking to someone. We should be wise enough to know the difference between things that are best kept unsaid and the words that should never be withheld.

When people are in a fit of rage or in some deep sorrow, the words they usually release from their lips are the words they regret after some time: hateful, vengeful, cursing and bitter words that reflect the pain and disappointment they feel.

On the other hand, some words that are best released are often withheld because of shame, fear and a lack of confidence. Such words should never be withheld.

Here are some words that should never be withheld and why they should be released.

1. The gospel of Jesus Christ

Let's face it, we aren't just commanded to preach the gospel into all creation (see Mark 16:15). We are also to live our salvation out (see Philippians 2:12). When we don't preach the gospel, we not only disobey the direct command of the Lord Jesus Christ, we also fail to openly declare His love and salvation to others who haven't received it yet (see Romans 10:14-15). Worse, these people who don't know Christ will go to hell.

Friends, don't gag your mouth from speaking the gospel of Christ's love for all. Don't let fear, shame or a lack of confidence stop you from obeying Christ and spreading His love to all who don't have it.

2. The truth

The Lord Jesus Christ said the truth will set us free (see John 8:32). Paul said we should stop lying and speak the truth in love (see Ephesians 4:25). Although the truth might hurt at times, it's true that saying the truth actually sets us free.

The truth is what's needed to free us from whatever prison we might be in. The truth that we are sinners in dire need of God's salvation paves the way for us to admit our need for Christ, to repent, and to finally let go of ourselves and follow Him.

In the same way, the truth sets marriages and all other relationships straight. We should seek to be honest always.

3. Words of appreciation

Never ever withhold words of love and appreciation, especially to your spouse if you're married. These words create a wonderful atmosphere in your relationships. You don't believe me? Take Proverbs 18:21's warning: "Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits."

When we fail to speak life and blessing to the people we love, we fail to cultivate a loving atmosphere that they feel. The Father Himself loved us so much that He sent His one and only Son, the Word become flesh. Think about it.
