The Xiaomi Mi Note 2 will come in two variants, according to new leaks. The difference will mostly be manifested on the hardware of the models.

A new report suggests that one version of the Xiaomi-branded phablet will house a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor accompanied with 4GB of RAM.

The top-end model of the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 will have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 chipset under the hood, which is obviously the newer and more advanced version, paired with 6GB of RAM.

Either way, both processors are huge upgrades from the first-generation Mi Note, which came with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor. It only had 3GB RAM as well.

The first one is also expected to come with 32GB storage while the higher-specced model will offer 128GB internal memory. It is unclear if no other storage configurations will be available. The previous version came only with 16 and 64GB respectively.

As it always is with leaks, it goes without saying that until Xiaomi makes known its plans for the highly-anticipated Mi Note 2, these specifications should be taken with a grain of salt.

Meanwhile, as the release of the device inches closer, purported images of the device also find their way to the web. The leaks show that the tablet will sport little to no bezels.

The Xiaomi Mi Note 2 is expected to come with the same 5.7-inch display although with higher resolution and pixel density. The previous one came with full HD resolution and 386ppi.

It is unclear if the new Xiaomi Mi Note will come with the same 16-megapixel rear-facing shooter and 4MP selfie snapper or will get some upgrades, but it appears that the latter is more likely.

As for the release date of the Xiaomi Mi Note 2, reports suggest a September launch, although Xiaomi is yet to make the device official.
