In light of the overheating issues involving Qualcomm's newest and most sought-after Snapdragon 810 processor, phone maker Xiaomi, which was rumored to outfit its flagship with the alleged problematic unit, will not be releasing the Mi 5 during its supposed launch next month. 

According to new reports, the Chinese company is buying more time to test the Xiaomi Mi 5 for overheating problems — and solve any issue that should arise — before, and not after, the handset is officially released. Because of this, Xiaomi will reportedly introduce the device in October or November instead of July as previously rumored. 

Meanwhile, other media outlets claim that the delay in the new smartphone's release is needed for a different reason. There are speculations that the company will be using the Snapdragon 820 processor on its flagship, which Qualcomm already broached in a low-key event. This way, Xiaomi will be able to dodge the overheating problems and, at the same time, boast the latest unit available. The postponement and the longer wait for users will be compensated by the stellar overheat-free power source of the Xiaomi Mi 5 and this seems like the best way to go. 

For months, Qualcomm has been barraged with issues concerning its latest product. The 810 is used by both HTC and Sony for their respective flagships and users who own these smartphones are the source of the surging complaints. 

Back when the Samsung Galaxy S6 was in the drawing board, there were already mentions about the 810 processor's tendency to heat up. This allegedly also sealed the South Korea-based company's decision to produce processors in-house, thus MediaTek units power its handsets. 

The Xiaomi Mi Note Pro was also plagued with the overheating issue and the company solved that with the use of thermal controls. However, with the Xiaomi Mi 5 yet to hit the market, media outlets find it best to wait for the Snapdragon 820 instead.
