The first trailer for season 6 of "The Walking Dead" was shown during the show's panel at the San Diego Comic-Con 2015. The trailer showcases a little bit of Rick (Andrew Lincoln) at odds with his old friend Morgan (Lennie James) before it shifts to show the group endangered by hordes of zombies.

Morgan arrived just in time to see Rick murder Pete. The trailer reveals that Morgan and some of the Alexandria Safe Zone residents don't trust Rick's violent methods to survive, and there may be a dispute between those who side with Rick and those who side with Morgan. That all comes to a halt when zombies start invading the town.

A good portion of the trailer shows endless hordes attacking the gates, and it is hinted that they may have already broken in, forcing the Alexandria residents to go out and survive for the first time. There are some gruesome deaths seen in the trailer and there is also a quick shot of Corey Hawkins as Alexandria resident Heath.

The end of the trailer is what reveals the most details, however. Fans get their first look at the group known as the Wolves, which is based on the Scavengers from "The Walking Dead" comic book series, as reported by Screen Rant. It is the group that carved the letter W on some walkers in season 5 and also set the trap that nearly killed Daryl and Aaron.

The trailer shows that the group has also captured Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus). Instead of pleading for his life, he simply tells them, "I ain't who you think I am," before the trailer shows a clip of Daryl escaping to warn Rick and the others.

According to the report from Screen Rant, showrunner Scott Gimple stated that season 6 will put the zombie threat front and center, saying, "For a good while now, humans have been the bigger threat. At the start of our next season, that will change."

Fans of the comics will recall that the Scavengers use walkers to their advantage and this may bring Gimple's statement to fruition .

"The Walking Dead" season 6 premieres this October.
