A concern by folks who are planning to get the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 is the battery. With the upcoming Samsung phablet coming equipped with a non-removable battery, many question how long the smaller 3,000 mAh battery will be good for.

Battery life is important to users, particularly those engaged in the features that the phone carries. That includes talk time, browsing, and media playback. So will the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 offer better (and longer) battery life compared to that of its predecessor Samsung Galaxy Note 4?

Various tests made show varying results. Like in the case of leaving the phone on standby, the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 can reportedly last for up to three days. Not bad.

How about when a user starts using it to make calls? According to GSM Arena, the Galaxy Note 5 offers a total of about 28 hours of battery life when used for such, fairly close to what the Galaxy Note 4 has to offer.

For those who intend to use the phablet via web browsing means, the phablet is good for up to 10 hours of use.

As far as using it to playback videos, the device will be good for only 13 hours, more or less. That is quite a dip from the Galaxy Note 4 which is good for up to 17 hours.

Surely, there will be owners who will use the device with a bit of everything — calls, browsing, and media playback. Using each of the aforementioned tasks for just an hour a day would make the Galaxy Note 5 be good for up to 85 hours.

Part of this good standby performance is attributed to the Exynos 7420 chipset, although the endurance time of the phablet is lower by 5 hours than that of the Galaxy Note 4 after updating the operating system (OS) to Android 5.0 Lollipop.

So in all, it could also boil down on how the device would react to the OS onboard. We have seen how the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 performs with the Android 5.0. Will the Galaxy Note 5 do better with the Android 5.1 OS (reportedly) out of the box?

Do you believe that the battery of the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 is that good? Check out the video below.
