Nintendo amiibo news: 'Animal Crossing,' Mega Yarn Yoshi, Metwo prepare for a holiday release

Nintendo has a new batch of amiibo figures coming, and it includes what might be the company's biggest amiibo offering yet – literally. A giant version of the Yarn Yoshi amiibo, which is aptly called Mega Yarn Yoshi, will be made available on Nov. 15 in the U.S. and on Nov. 27 in the U.K.

Although twice the size, the bigger Yoshi amiibo will have the same functionality as its smaller counterpart. Tapping the amiibo on the Wii U GamePad in "Yoshi's Woolly World" will still yield two Yoshis for players to use at any point. Players can save a Yoshi pattern directly to the amiibo, too.

Mega Yarn Yoshi is priced at $40, which, like its size, is double that of the price of the regular-sized versions. The smaller ones costs $17. Despite the big bump in the price tag, it is expected that it will be sold out straightaway so fans need to keep an eye out for the amiibo as its release date nears.

Meanwhile, "Animal Crossing" players would love to know that they will be able to bulk up their amiibo collection with a slew of new statuettes. After the amiibo cards for "Happy Home Designer," gamers are getting eight more figurines of characters from the community simulation video game series as part of the Amiibo Festival.

There is a separate package for Lottie and another one for Isabelle. Digby, Mabel and Tom Nook are also coming as amiibo toys. Fans can opt for a three-pack bundle, which will snag them an amiibo of K.K. Slider, Reese and Cyrus. No specific release date has been set yet but it is expected they will be out when the Wii U version of the game is released during the holidays.

Lastly, the long-awaited Mewtwo amiibo was finally given a release date – Nov. 13 in the U.S. and Oct. 23 fin Europe. The amiibo will work the same way the "Super Smash Bros." figurines.
