The hit U.S. drama "Nashville" will come back for season 3 with a big surprise. Connie Britton and Hayden Panetierre will telecast their performances via a live broadcast for the season 3 premiere this September.

Show creator Callie Khouri revealed to Radio Times that the season 3 debut episode will feature live performances. The musical performances will broadcast, directly from the show's set. The premiere episode will also have pre-recorded scenes, which will be shot on July 17.

Khouri explained that the live broadcast took inspiration from "Nashville: On the Record," which is a two-episode series that showcased live performances from the cast members as well as the show's original songwriters. Khouri says, "That's what gave us the courage to attempt a live show."

There are people who do not believe the talent behind the cast of "Nashville" like Connie Britton. Khouri says that the live show should prove the musical abilities of "Nashville" cast members. She says, "We want people to know what it's really like. The live music here is such a huge presence in our show that we thought maybe we could find a way to share with the world what that feels like for real."

She further adds, "Our cast has been performing a lot in all the music venues, they're so talented... just in case people ever wondered, 'Are these people really singing? Are they being fixed in a studio afterwards?' Just to give people the chance to hear how good everybody really is."

How does Khouri feel about the live show? "It's a huge thing to take on but I think we're up to it. Barring some technical, possibly weather-related problem, I think it's a fun thing to try and do. We're always looking for new ways to challenge ourselves and just thought this would be really great," she said.

"Nashville" Season 3 comes back in September.
