It has almost been a year since that dreaded skiing accident which Formula One champ Michael Schumacher suffered and his slow improvement has left many concerned on whether he can still live a normal life.

Schumacher is still unable to move although a piece of good news is that he is able to show emotions through his eyes. For now this is the only way that he can communicate, opening and closing his eyes. He reportedly got emotional when his wife and children spoke to him though there were instances where Schumacher did not recognize them.

Aside from being able to respond using his eyes, Schumacher is still unable to move. There are no independent movements and has not yet been able to talk. While the eye response is a good sign, it remains that the Formula One driver has a long road to recovery ahead of him.

At some point in the future, Schumacher is expected to be tied up to a wheelchair. He will need to undergo proper therapy in order for him to be able to move and/or walk on his own once more. Such is needed to make sure that his muscles do not degenerate although a main concern his cognitive function.

With all that said, there is no telling on how Schumacher can return to a normal life, sans race car driving. At the moment, his family and fans are simply hoping for him to get back on his feet and recover from the unfortunate tragedy that hampered his life as of to date.

Schumacher will be moved to the Lausanne clinic for his treatment and rehab which was approved by his doctors. With his family at his side, are helping in his speedy recovery. He woke up last June and has since stayed in a built-in medical suite at his Lake Geneva estate.
