Miami Heat rumors: Will Mario Chalmers still be around?

Mario ChalmersWikipedia

Mario Chalmers has been with the Miami Heat for almost 7 years now and he has surely shown his worth. But it seems that the 29-year old guard is struggling to find out just what his role is on the team.

Before Lebron James left for Cleveland, Chalmers was officially the starting point guard for coach Erik Spoesltra. With the entry of new guards (Goran Dragic and Shabazz Napier) it seems that Chalmers is now at a loss on what his role really is on the team.

At the state that the Miami Heat are in, such is the same for the 34th overall draft pick from 2008. He has been tasked to play the point and sometimes adjust to the shooting guard position as the Heat continue to struggle and find their identity no thanks to the injuries that have beset key players of the team.

At the moment, it seems expected that Chalmers' role at the point has been taken over by Dragic. The two guard? Well he has to be content with Dwyane Wade. To sum it all up, he may not be expected to start unless Dragic or Wade would be sitting it out due to injury or due to the coach's decision.

For Chalmers, he admits that he is aware of the situation and the adjustments necessary. But the thing is that it has affected the chemistry and rhythm of the team, something that is apparent considering the struggles they have had to deal with.

The Heat are half a game behind the Boston Celtics but clearly have a shot at making it to the next round. But that all depends on how they fare in their remaining games.

Assuming that Heat win all of them, they could end up with the 7th or 8th slot, but all that would depend as well on how the Brooklyn Nets and Boston Celtics perform.

Looking forward however, Chalmers tenure in Miami is likewise put into question. Will he still be around or will he be shipped out? It may all depend on how well he adjusts to the system of coach Erik Spoelstra as well as with the other players who play his position.
