'Mass Effect Andromeda' leak: gameplay info dumped on Reddit

Bioware

Developer Bioware hasn't been very vocal about "Mass Effect Andromeda" so fans are left at the edge of their seats every time a morsel of info comes up. Even though the game studio has given so much effort to keep things about the upcoming game a secret, leaksters still manage to sneak a peek.

Two Reddit users recently plonked loads of info about the action role-playing third-person shooter, thanks to a source who happens to know a lot about an early build of the game. However, it is still recommended to take the following info with a grain of salt for the lack of confirmation by EA or Bioware.

In "Mass Effect Andromeda," players apparently get a couple of squad mates. One is a Krogan (the one in the E3 trailer) and the other is what the leaksters described as a "petite, buxom, blonde human woman." All team members get jetpacks and an omnitool that now doubles as a combat shield.

The game addresses the main character as The Pathfinder, who will have his own headquarters in ships that are entirely new and made especially for the upcoming installment. These ships are also driven manually unlike the trilogy where gamers used the old galaxy map.

Gamers will tackle new enemies that are described as a hybrid of the Vorcha and the Collectors. Other non-human adversaries come from the Cerberus ships. One of the antagonists is a human soldier that resembles The Pathfinder except for the N7 insignia. Players can choose to kill him or not.

Customization will be a joy in "Mass Effect Andromeda" with armor, helmet, gauntlets and other components fans of the first three games should be familiar with. The Mako, just like what has been said before, will reportedly be made more functional and customizable as well.

On the visual side of things, the title owes the richer details of characters and models to the Frostbite engine. Thanks to this, the covers will also now be destructible.

Although the leaksters are confident with the gameplay information they shared, nothing is set in stone yet until word comes from Bioware and EA directly. But should it really be the case, fans could only hope E3 2016, where more info about the game should be made known.

"Mass Effect Andromeda" is scheduled to hit the shelves December 2016.
