The Christian community is often split with regards to homosexuality and same-sex marriage, with some Christians insisting that there is nothing wrong with it while others consider it a sin against God.

"Mary Mary" star Erica Campbell sides with the latter, although she believes that people should still show love and acceptance towards homosexuals and transgenders.

"I believe sin is sin and it exists, and God forgives it (homosexuality) just like anything else," Campbell told Team Curtains when she was asked about her thoughts "on transsexuals and gays in the gospel music and church today."

Campbell said each person has his or her own set of problems, and some are simply better at hiding their flaws and faults from others. "I think a lot of times we try to be God and we try to make the change. Everybody has an issue. Sometimes, people's is a little more flamboyant than others. Maybe yours is lying and we can't see your issue," she said.

The singer stressed that this is the reason why Christians should always be understanding towards people who are different from them, or those who share an opposing point of view. "We all have something to work on. My job is to love, not to judge," she said. "God will do that part..I think our responsibility is to keep singing about Jesus, keep telling the world that He loves, saves, transforms and heals."

"I think we should....keep sharing, keep loving, keep opening the doors of our churches, keep embracing and let God do the judging," she said.

Another thing Campbell believes strongly about is maintaining celibacy, and young girls need to be educated about the consequences of engaging in sex before marriage.

"We're talking about it to educate a young 16-year-old or 17-year-old girl who may have had sex and feels like she knows everything, but her reference for it all came from not God's design for it," she earlier told The Huffington Post. "I do believe sex is for marriage, I'm a bit old school in that respect, but if you understand more in detail the reasons why, you'll go, 'Oh, OK I get it now.' So I think people support learning. I don't think anyone would be against learning."
