Nintendo announced this week that two new DLC packs, containing new racers, karts as well as the latest tracks for the benefit of Wii U users, will be released for Mario Kart 8.

The new DLC packs can be bought separately for $7.99 per piece, or $11.99 if bought together.

Some of the new drivers are included in the new packs, including Link from The Legend of Zelda fame, as well as Villager from Animal Crossing. They will take over the wheel in the two brand-new Cups that will include a total of 16 new tracks that include the classic ones such as Wario's Gold Mine as well as the new tracks that include Zelda and Animal Crossing themes.

However, the release dates of the two new DLC packs vary. The first one will land in the market this coming fall. On the other hand, the other DLC pack will be released sometime in spring 2015.

The specs of the two new DLC packs are reported in PC Mag.

Pack 1, dubbed as The Legend of Zelda X Mario Kart 8, will be out in November. It costs $7.99 and features three characters, including Cat Peach, Tanooki Mario, as well as the legendary Link. It also has four vehicles as well as eight courses.

On the other hand, Pack 2 is known as Animal Crossing X Mario Kart 8. It will be released sometime in May 2015 for $7.99 also. The pack also has three characters: Isabelle, Villager and Dry Bowser. It also has four vehicles as well as eight courses.

According to Nintendo of America's executive vice-president Scott Moffitt, "Mario Kart 8 already includes the largest number of characters, karts and options of any Mario Kart game to date, and these amazing expansion packs give players even more choices."

Also, the recently reported Mercedes DLC pack has been released. This pack includes three new karts, particularly the contemporary Mercedes-Benz GLA, the 300 SL Roadster from the 1950s, as well as the iconic Silver Arrow from the 1930s.
