With the advent of the new platform from Microsoft, many are asking if the company will also be releasing new flagship phones running on Windows 10. Even before Microsoft started releasing their new OS, rumors of a Windows 10-run smartphone were already making their rounds online.

With the release of Windows 10 and supposedly leaked images of a new Lumia, fans might indeed see a Windows 10 phone soon.

According to Chinese site WPXAP and reported by tech website The Verge, the images are of an upcoming Lumia phone, the 950 XL. The rumored Windows 10 flagship will supposedly come with a 5.7-inch display, along with a slightly smaller 5.2-inch Lumia 950 and will come in either late September or early October. Although the specific dates are only speculations, there seems to be some truth to the rumors, since Microsoft still has to release the mobile version of Windows 10. The Redmond-based company decided to roll out the new platform in stages, with the desktop and laptop versions to be released first.

The new features of Windows 10 are already incorporated to its mobile version. Most notable of the new add-ons is the Continuum, or the "tablet mode feature" of Windows 10. Turning on this feature will convert the smartphone's UI and environment into a tablet, which makes interaction between user and apps much more fluid and dynamic.

In addition to Continuum, the Lumia 950 XL is also rumored to come out with a 20 MP camera that has 3D capture technology to take advantage of Windows Hello. This Windows 10 option adds a layer of security to the handset by using the owner's iris and facial biometrics for device access.

The upcoming Lumia 950 XL will also come with a Microsoft Surface Pen for on-screen writing and Type-C USB connectivity.
