Although a specific release date has yet to be established, one of the most-anticipated releases for gaming fans is the continuation of the "Kingdom Hearts" saga. In the most recent update for the title, game director Tetsuya Nomura said that the upcoming "Kingdom Hearts 3" is nearing its completion mark, with the system and game mechanics already set.

Speaking to U.K. magazine OPM and reported through game site PlayStation Universe, the Square Enix director shared how close "Kingdom Hearts 3" is in terms of game development. Nomura said that the basic systems and mechanics are already laid out, with the development team already working on the other elements of the game. He also stressed that part of the team's focus is now shifted to making the HD part of the title work out.

He said, "Since this is an HD title, it's now building the resources, and development of the 'mass' elements of it, like mass production of the areas and the actual things that are going into the game."

In the meantime, although the same team is working on another major project, Nomura assures fans that development of "Kingdom Hearts 3" is running smoothly.

He added, "Some of them are polished and very close to final state, but at the same time some elements are still in the planning phase and I haven't laid out the groundwork yet. But the basic structure of what's going to go in the game is set, it's now a matter of mass production of the different elements."

Nomura did not give any specifics on the title's appearances at upcoming events such as the 2015 gamescom convention. However, fans expect concrete details to surface by this year's D23 Expo.

"Kingdom Hearts 3" is expected to be released for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
