Kevin Durant prioritizing Lakers in free agency?

Kevin Durant stressed that he doesn't intend to talk about the 2016 National Basketball Association (NBA) free agency where he stands to be the top dog as his deal with the Oklahoma City Thunder expires.

Recall that Durant has warned that rumors are the last thing folks need to believe in, further stating that unless information comes from him or his trusted circle, all things concerning about his NBA future are false.

But then again, that doesn't mean critics will stop speculating on what the former the 27-year-old forward has planned come 2016.

This early, the Washington Wizards are considered as a likely destination. The reason behind this is because Durant, of course, comes from there. Aside from that, he could take into consideration that the Wizards boast of perhaps one of the best backcourts the NBA has today in John Wall and Bradley Beal. With Durant on board, the Wizards could be a formidable team to reckon with.

How about the Los Angeles Lakers? Don't they have a shot at the high scoring forward?

It appears that ESPN commentator Stephen Smith did make an interesting insight that in the event Durant decides to leave OKC, Los Angeles is a prime destination.

"Regardless of how senseless it may (sound), in one breath I'm hearing that if Kevin Durant doesn't stay in Oklahoma City, L.A. is his primary objective and landing spot as opposed to South Beach or even his home of Washington, D.C."

When word of this rumor came out, Durant responded and called Smith a liar.

It wasn't long after that Smith responded to the allegations as well, seemingly upset and lashing back at the former NBA MVP.

The sideshow for Durant, who will be making his return after sitting out majority of the 2014–15 NBA season is expected to carry on. Hopefully though, he can deal with the rumors or at least ignore them if they are indeed untrue.
